It comes after The Lakeside Inn in Jarrow announced it was temporarily closing for a deep clean, after two staff members tested positive for coronavirus, and The Life of Riley in South Shields said it would close temporarily after a customer tested positive.
Bistro Romano posted a message to customers saying: “We have been made aware of two cases of Covid 19 in our staff and we have made the decision to close temporarily to undertake a deep clean and review staffing arrangements.
“The safety of our staff and customers is our top priority, so please be assured we are working closely with South Tyneside Council and Public Health England to complete a risk assessment and make sure we have the right measures in place to protect all our customers, staff and the wider community.”
It says customers do not need to take any action unless contacted by NHS Test and Trace but anyone who develops symptoms should self isolate and take a test.
Clover and Wolf announced on its Facebook page that it was undergoing a deep clean.
The venue posted last night: “We have been made aware that someone who has been into Clover and Wolf over the weekend has tested positive for Covid-19.
“We have been in contact with the local health authority and they are not concerned as it was established that the person was not contagious until after they were at Cover and Wolf, so just as a precaution on top of the usual daily clean, the bar will under go a deep clean tonight ready to reopen tomorrow as usual.”
