Wetherspoon pubs to offer ‘Stay Out To Help Out’ discount as Government scheme draws to a close

Pub giant JD Wetherspoon is launching its own discount scheme after the success of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out offer.

‘Stay Out To Help Out’ will launch in Wetherspoon pubs from Tuesday, September 1, seeing a range of meals and drinks available at a reduced price from Mondays to Wednesdays.

The company aims to run the offer until Wednesday, November 11.

Meals on offer will include an 11-inch Pizza Margherita with a soft drink and a classic six-ounce beef burger with chips and a soft drink.

Both will cost £3.99 with the discount.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said: “The Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme was extremely popular with our customers and a great boost to the hospitality industry.

"We are keen to offer our customers a superb choice of food and drink at great value for money prices.”

Under the Wetherspoon Stay Out To Help Out scheme, the chain’s traditional breakfast will have a price tag of £2.99 while tea, coffee and all soft drinks will be 99p.

The Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme launched on Monday, August 3 and offered customers a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to dine in, up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner.

Bank Holiday Monday – August 31 – marks the last day of the scheme, which ran on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month.
