Taking to social media to announce the song, Welch said: “You may have noticed that I'm changing things up at the moment? Well @ukcelebrations did and asked me to add a bit of my hip, cool vibe to a classic festive song.

“Slayyy Bells is about doing Christmas your way. Don't want Turkey? Don't have it.

“Don't want to dress up? Stay in your pj's. But my message to you is however you spend your holidays, have lots and lots of fun, huns.”

Working with the chocolate box brand, Welch will hope to get closer to the top of the charts this winter than her son, 1975 frontman Matty Healy.

It has been a big year for Welch, who has remained a well loved pop culture figure throughout 2025. She also announced her return to Waterlook Road for early next year, when her belovde character Steph Haydock will reappear on the TV screens of the nation.
