Jarrow School confirms one-day closure for deep clean after 'significant number' of students report sickness
Jarrow School will remain closed on Tuesday, November 19 following an outbreak of vomiting, fever and sore throats.
The school confirmed the closure in a post on its Facebook page on Monday, November 18, where an image of a letter sent home to parents and carers was also shared.
The letter, from headteacher Jill Gillies, explained that the school would close on Tuesday, November 19 so deep cleaning could take place across the site.
It’s expected to open again on Wednesday, November 20.
The letter stated a “significant” number of students have reported fever, sore throat and vomiting, and are asked not to return to school until they have fully recovered.
The post added: “Students will come home today with this letter. All students will return on Wednesday or 48 hours after their last symptoms.”
