More South Shields primary school pupils told to self-isolate

Another South Shields primary school has told some pupils to self-isolate following a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Year 6.

Ashley Primary School on Temple Park Road has carried out a full risk assessment after consulting with public health and local authority advisers.

The school has sent a letter keeping parents informed. The students identified as being in close contact and must stay away from the school for 14 days.

This means they can return to school on Tuesday 6th October. They are to be provided with online work during this time.

The school is otherwise open and other pupils are to attend as usual.

Parents have been told: “Unless you have been told not to send your child in, please send them to school as normal in all other year groups.”

The news comes after similar recent cases in South Tyneside. Jarrow School as well as Harton Academy and Harton Primary have also been affected.
