People have been following Government advice to stay at home as the seafront and streets in South Shields remain quiet heading into week two of ‘lockdown’ amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Week two of the lockdown put in place by PM Boris Johnson to limit the spread of coronavirus has begun. Strict guidance from the Government is for people to stay at home to protect themselves, each other and the NHS. People are being told to only go out for certain reasons, including exercise once a day or if they need to shop for basic essentials. Our photographer headed out across South Shields to see how the town is dealing under these new guidelines.
