25 pictures of the beautiful rainbows brightening up homes around South Tyneside

Rainbows have been popping up in the windows of homes around South Tyneside to spread a little cheer in unprecedented times.

A lovely idea, dreamed up by South Shields mum-of-two Carly Maddison and friend Shannon Beaton, has been putting the smiles on faces of children, key workers and elderly residents in the borough.

The Chasing Rainbows South Tyneside Facebook group is encouraging residents to put a picture of a rainbow in their window in a bid to brighten the days of those who pass them and put a spring in the step of those on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis.

Dozens of residents have got involved and have been sharing their photos with the Gazette.

Here’s a few of our favourites to brighten up your day.
