9 South Tyneside areas with the highest and lowest Covid case rates
Areas in South Tyneside have seen a fall in Covid cases for the second consecutive week.
These are the nine areas in South Tyneside with the highest and lowest Covid case rates recorded between Friday, January 9 and Thursday, January 14, according to official figures.
In the seven-day period, 473 confirmed cases were confirmed in South Tyneside – which is down from 658 compared to the week before.
The case rate takes into account the number of people living in each area compared to the number of people who have tested positive for the virus and are measured by 100,000 people.
There are six areas in South Tyneside with rates higher than 400 per 100,000 people and three areas which have rates lower than 200 per 100,000 people.
The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two). Pictures are for illustrative purposes only.
1. HIGHEST COVID RATE: Harton (East)
The case rate is 522.5 per 100,000 people. 29 cases were recorded in the area in seven days.
