But as the Government imposes strict measures to combat the spread of coronavirus, the home has been left to think of other ways it can reach out to the most vulnerable in the community while following guidelines.

And now Palmersdene has announced that it will be delivering a hot meal to the homes of elderly people in the Jarrow area each day.

It is appealing for members of the public to get in touch with the home to let them know if they are and elderly person or know of someone within the vulnerable age group who would benefit from the service.

Palmersdene home manager Maureen McCulloch said: “Are you an elderly person within the vulnerable age group who has no family or someone who you can rely on? Do you live within the Jarrow vicinity?

Palmersdene Care Home is reaching out to elderly people in the community during the coronavirus outbreak.

“We would like to offer a hot meal delivered to your home each day as long as practicably possible.

“We will obviously be following guidelines and will be unable to come into your property, so you must be able to answer the door.”

If you would like to take up Palmersdene’s offer or if you could think of someone to nominate call the home on: 0191 4280660 ext 2.
