Message of 'Hope' appears on seafront between Sunderland and South Tyneside

With the country preparing to enter its third week of isolation, the word ‘Hope’ has been spelled out in dozens of stones.

Photographer Frank Reid captured these haunting images after the words appeared close to the beach beneath Souter Lighthouse, between Whitburn and Marsden.

It is not known who created the work, but it comes after similar messages were left on the beach at Seaburn.
