Paramedic launches online quiz to help families through 'uncertain times' as coronavirus crisis continues

A South Tyneside family has come up with an innovative way to keep others entertained during the lockdown measures imposed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

Together with her children and husband, Hebburn paramedic Samantha Murdoch is preparing to launch an online quiz to offer families some light-hearted and free fun during a worrying time.

Taking place next week, The Big Family Quiz – set to run through Facebook – has a number of prizes up for grabs, donated by organisations up and down the country as the event gathers popularity online.

More than 500 people have registered an interest in the quiz, with around 140 signed up to take part.

Samantha, 30, told the Gazette: “I never ever imagined it would get capture the attention of families up and down the country.

“I approached some businesses to ask for a small prize donation – if anything to give a litte reward to the winners. I have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses up and down the country.”

Prizes include a family ticket to Blackpool Zoo, when restrictions are lifted, a bar tab at the Cock Crow Inn in Hebburn and sweets from Swizzels.

Samantha and children Connor and Emily will go live on Facebook on Monday, March 30 at 10am to launch the first quiz in the series.

Questions will range in difficulty and the quiz is open for all age groups and abilities to take part.
