As new restrictions force the closure of pubs, restaurants and cafes across the country, along with gyms and entertainment venues, the town centre has seen a dramatic reduction in footfall as most heed the Government advice to stay at home.
Although Saturday morning saw people turn out to buy essentials or queue for prescriptions at Boots on King Street, later in the day the town was almost deserted.
The measures were introduced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday, March 20, as he follows medical and scientific advice on slowing down the spread of the illness to help the NHS cope.
