South Shields Town Hall will fly the flag in support of NHS staff and key workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Town Hall will fly the NHS flag on Thursday, April 9, in a gesture to show solidarity for those on the frontline of the pandemic.

The flag is expected to be raised every Thursday in support of the Clap For Carers campaign.

The Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Norman Dick, said: “Our wonderful NHS staff and our own carers are going above and beyond every single day in the current crisis.
