South Tyneside’s weekly coronavirus case rate more than doubles, latest figures show
The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two) and record confirmed cases for the seven-day period to Saturday, August 15.
South Tyneside’s latest case rate is recorded as 4.6 per 100,000 people for that time period, with seven new confirmed cases of Covid-19 over the seven days.

Hide AdThe rolling rate is based on Public Health England data published on Tuesday, August 18 on the Government’s coronavirus online dashboard.


The new number is an increase of 2.6 from the previous seven-day period – up to Saturday, August 8 – where the case rate was 2.0 per 100,000 people, with three cases recorded.
These are the latest weekly case rates for the North East, according to the list compiled by the PA news agency.
