We’re living through a time of crisis that few of us would ever have expected to see.
We are celebrating our key worker heroes, and we’ve asked you to highlight the brave individuals and teams you know who are working on the frontline.
Here’s a lineup of some Sunderland #healthheroes we should all applaud.
We’ve had an overwhelming response, so if we missed your nominee out, we’ll try to give them the shout out they deserve in the days to come.
1. Cara Smith, community district nurse
Paul Smith says of his wife: "She is a community district nurse based in Hebburn, working hard going from house to house looking after all her patients, and when she finishes she is keeping me and especially our 3yr old son Albie safe. The whole family are proud of her and other frontline workers."
2. Kiera Yorston, student nurse
Sharon Yorston says of her daughter: "She works on ward E52 at Sunderland Royal, I am so proud of her as she is an student nurse and has tested positive to covid 19 herself through doing her job, I can not be more proud of her as a nurse and a daughter"
3. Craig Clements has two jobs in the NHS
Kelly Crowther says: "My amazing fiancé Craig Clements holds down 2 NHS jobs, working some nights and every weekend as a health advisor for NHS 111 services and also works in the labs during the week. All this and he still finds time to be a loving father and partner. He is my frontline hero and I am so proud of him"
4. Donna McVey and Jennie Musgrave
