Well it is almost a decade ago as all of these retro photos were taken in 2011 – the year of Katy Perry’s Firework, Game of Thrones beginning its phenomenal TV rise, and the digital switchover coming into effect.
These images were all taken closer to home and come from Sunderland, South Tyneside, Hartlepool and East Durham.
We scoured the archives of the Sunderland Echo, Shields Gazette and Hartlepool Mail to find them and we hope they bring back great memories.
Take a look.
