It’s Healthy Eating Week and that gives us a chance to reflect on the time when all these pupils were pictured tucking in to tasty food.

From Laygate to Lord Blyton, South Tyneside has been a leader in nutritious meals for years as these photos show.

Healthy Eating Week is held by the British Nutrition Foundation and is encouraging people to be as healthy as they can.

We think it is a great time to scour the Shields Gazette archives for great pictures with a food theme.
