9. SEPTEMBER: Six-in-a-Mo in the Great North Run
Around 57,000 athletes raced through along the South Shields Coast in the 39th Great North Run. Mo Farah won the men's race for the sixth consecutive year. 10. OCTOBER: Little Harriet gets 'best news ever'
They did it! After years of campaigning by the family of five year-old Jarrow cystic fibrosis sufferer, Harriet Corr, it was announced that the life changing drug Orkambi would be available on the NHS after a deal was struck between the British government and US pharmaceutical giant Vertex. 11. NOVEMBER: Strictly star Chris Ramsey tells of 'unbelievable support'

12. DECEMBER: Thieves return stolen Christmas tree - along with cash and an apology
