A former Cleadon woman has proved to be a social media success with more than 700 people joining her new nostalgia group
More than 700 people have already joined the Cleadon Village Memories page on Facebook, which looks at everything from old shops to schools.
Members are encouraged to share their memories of days gone by no matter whether they still live in the area or whether they are admirers of Cleadon from afar.
Page founder Barbara Benner, who set it up at the start of the first lockdown, allows members to share their memories of days gone by no matter whether they still live in the area or whether they are admirers of Cleadon from afar.
Barbara said: “It is for Cleadon residents, past and present where we can share memories, photographs and memorabilia of days gone by.
“I wanted to bring some happiness and light to everyone during lockdown and this group grew very quickly,
“I grew up in Cleadon Village and my Mum worked at Cleadon Infants and Junior School so I knew children and teachers alike.”
Barbara moved to Nottingham in 2001 but she said: “I still kept in touch with schoolfriends but when lockdown came, I thought it would be wonderful to get people together and share experiences, memories and photographs.”
Join us as we take a first look at some of the poignant Cleadon reminders of days gone by.
