And what better way to do it than by admiring these fundraisers who raised cash the fancy dress way.
They dressed as nuns, super heroes, nurses and Scooby Doo. They dressed as pumpkins, princesses and pirates and all for good causes.
Every one of them was pictured doing their bit for a worthy cause in South Tyneside and our photographers were there to capture it on camera.
So let’s give a rousing cheer to these fancy dress heroes and while you’re doing it, see if you can spot someone you know.
