'Love it if we beat them, love it' – 24 years on from Kevin Keegan's rant, how much can you remember about Newcastle's 1995/96 season?

Twenty four years ago this evening, Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan made some TV history with his rage-fuelled rant at Manchester United's Alex Ferguson.

“We’re still fighting for this title. He’s still got to go to Middlesbrough and get something. I tell you, I will love it if we beat them, love it!” he barked out to Richard Keys and Andy Gray following a hard-fought 1-0 win at Elland Road kept the Magpies in the hunt for the Premier League title.

We all know things didn’t turn out the way Keegan hoped as the Red Devils, inspired by Eric Cantona and Peter Schmeichel, held on to claim the title.
