Nine pictures of brilliant bookworms as we look back at happy reading times in South Tyneside

Reading Together Day takes place in July each year, and we are celebrating with a selection of photos showing people doing just that.

So whether you were taking part in a silent sponsored read, a readathon, or celebrating your favourite book characters, we have got it all.

Take a look through our retro collection and see if these photos bring back happy memories.
