Dartford Road resurfacing: Drivers warned of road closure in South Shields street

Drivers in South Shields are being warned of potential disruption from roadworks.

South Tyneside Council intends to make a temporary road closure order on Dartford Road in South Shields from July 1, 2021, to allow resurfacing work to take place in the street.

The road closure order will mean all traffic – from a point 110m north-east of its southern junction with Kingsway – will be banned from the road at times when the work is taking place.

Council officers said the expected the work will take place over a maximum of 21 days.

Diversions will be signposted for drivers and the alternative route will be via Dartford Road, Kingsway and vice versa.

The work is part of ongoing improvements to roads in South Tyneside.
