As part of the phased reopening of the country, from April 12 pubs and restaurants have been able to open their outdoor spaces for groups of six or two households mixing.
It’s a sigh of relief for many South Tyneside businesses who can finally welcome customers once more. Here’s some of the borough’s beer gardens that are open now, along with booking details where applicable.

Previously the Simonside Arms, Caesar's Den has undergone a £10,000 refurbishment and has a Mediterranean and Italian menu which is available outdoors. Landmark pub The Grotto is open for outdoor drinking and dining daily from 10am with its hotel rooms opening from May 17. It's a picture perfect spot for breakfasts and brunches.
