As an absolute foodie, one of my favourite things to do is visit a restaurant and indulge in a delicious meal.
I’m lucky enough to live in the beautiful North East seaside town South Shields, which not only boasts a stunning coastline but an amazing selection of restaurants.
From traditional seafood spots, classic pub grub and global cuisine, here are my top 10 favourite restaurants to visit in South Shields.

5. The Bamburgh
South Shields boasts plenty of incredible pubs serving up delicious food, alongside great customer service. However, The Bamburgh has to be one of my favourites. The Greene King pub located on Bamburgh Avenue has a very chill vibe, and it also has the best view of the Great North Run. | Tripadvisor

6. The Sand Dancer
Whether you're popping in after a long walk down to the beach, or dressing up to hang-out with friends on a weekend, The Sand Dancer is the place to be. The pub has plenty of dishes, drinks and live music to enjoy. I’d highly recommend trying its Bao Buns. The restaurant was recently featured on Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend. | Tripadvisor-Sandrac58

7. Radhuni
Ocean Road in South Shields is a fantastic street packed with plenty of incredible restaurants. A stand-out restaurant for me is Radhuni, if you’re after an authentic Indian meal. | Tripadvisor
8. The Wouldhave
Wetherspoons is my absolute guilty pleasure, I just can’t resist the affordable pricing and filling food. I personally love to visit Wetherspoons for breakfast, or drinks and small plates with friends for a relaxed evening. The Wouldhave, which was renovated in 2020 is South Shields’ local Wetherspoons and it is a great spot. | Shields Gazette
