What started life as a village bistro in East Boldon, South Tyneside, in 2017, has now gone regional as Blacks Corner opens its fourth site.

Situated in the Food Hall at Fenwick, Newcastle, the new wine, cheese and charcuterie bar looks set to be a popular pit stop for shoppers.

Blacks Corner Co-owner Jonathan Dryden said: “We already had a relationship with Fenwick so were delighted when they approached us about opening in the Food Hall. It’s a really exciting development for us, for a village company to now be operating on a regional level.”

Opening on February 14, the cheese and wine bar is situated at the entrance to the Food Hall as you enter via the flower stall and has been given the signature heritage aesthetic of the other Blacks Corner outlets.

The fifth Blacks Corner will open in the new £27m Culture House in Keel Square, Sunderland, this Autumn. Situated on the ground floor it will offer a ‘unique dining experience’, featuring a bar area, what’s been described as an ‘interactive cheese counter’ and intimate dining space with an open studio kitchen that will feature workshops from in-house patisserie chefs. The team will also cater for events taking place in the venue, including the Sky Garden overlooking the city. Once open, it will take the number of people in the region employed by Blacks Corner up to 100.
