In a message to customers on its Facebook page, pub bosses confirmed that it has decided to close temporarily to allow for an industrial deep clean after two staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

The Lakeside Inn has said that all of its staff have now been tested for coronavirus and are awaiting their test results.

A number of staff members have also decided to self isolate.

The pub is working with Public Health England on the correct measures and steps to take along with track and trace, who will contact customers.

The pub said it took the decision to close as a precaution while the deep clean is carried out.

Once it reopens the pub has said that only staff who have a negative NHS certificate will be allowed back on shift.

Pub bosses apologised to customers and urged anyone with symptoms to follow the most recent public health guidance on the NHS website.

In the statement on Facebook The Lakeside Inn said: “We have taken the decision after careful consideration to temporarily close the restaurant to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.

"To be transparent all of the staff from the Lakeside have now all been tested for Covid-19 and we are awaiting all the results back.

"A number of our staff have taken the decision to self isolate following two positive readings amongst the team.

"We are now working with Public Health England on the correct measure and steps to take along with track and trace who will contact the customers.

"We are supporting the staff in the decision.

"We will reopen very soon once the deep clean is complete and will only be allowing staff back on shift who have a negative NHS certificate.

“We are so sorry if this decision has caused any distress or concerns to our customers and if you believe you have any symptoms, advise you to follow the most recent public health guidance available on the NHS website.
