Nine family activities to try in the North East over the February half term

From a new 1950s terrace to a puddle jumping competition, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained over the February half-term holidays – and the big kids, too.

Even though many of the seasonal attractions are still closed until spring, here’s a round up of some of the activities taking place around the North East for the holidays, which run from February 18.

9. Puddle jumping championships, Washington Wetlands Centre

Make a splash at the Puddle Jumping championships at Washington Wetlands Centre. Challenge your family and friends on the popular Welly Boot Camp obstacle course and show off your most creative puddle jump to complete the course. Then take a shot at the welly shy or splash-themed bean bag toss. It's a self-led activity taking place from February 19-27. The cost is included with admission ticket and free to WWT members.
