The Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Magic, will run a range of short cruises this summer including departures from the Port of Tyne in North Shields

The ship will sail mostly two- and three-night sailings, as well as limited four-night sailings round-trip from London Tilbury, Newcastle (North Shields) , Liverpool and Southampton.

Passengers will remain aboard the Disney Magic throughout the sailings.

Disney Magic at sea staycation sailings are expected to go on sale in April for sailings this summer, pending the issuance of UK government guidelines and authorisations,

South Shields Travel Agent Westoe Travel are taking names for priority bookings – and they say the phone has been ringing off the hook.

Graeme Brett of Westoe Travel said: “This is fantastic news for the area with the chance to have a Disney family holiday leaving from the Port of Tyne. We are currently taking names for priority bookings as soon as Disney Cruise Line confirm the dates and prices.”

The 294-metre floating fantasy land, which carries 2,700 passengers, has always drawn huge crowds to the banks of the Tyne on previous visits to the river.

It brings to life some of the most popular Disney characters with a life-like set-up of Andy’s Room from Toy Story, a Mickey Mouse club and dining rooms where the walls come to life, as well as live Disney shows.
