The Save Our Stanley’s campaign marched through South Shields town centre at the weekend as they called for cuts to the South Tyneside Accredited Network for Learning in the Early Years (Stanley’s) to be reconsidered.
The campaign group was set up after South Tyneside Council informed staff in June that there is a possibility that all Stanley’s centres across the borough could close - with a staff consultation period due to last until around the end of July.
Save Our Stanley’s has been backed by parents, carers, staff, politicians, trade unions, local businesses and the wider community - with a petition containing more than 11,500 signatures submitted to the local authority.
