Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 17 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.
Take a look and see if you can open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend!

2. Ted (Pug)
Ted is an adorable little lad, and a true angel! He loves the company of people and enjoys nothing more than a little toddle out to explore on his walks, never in a hurry, and then finds a cosy place to snooze. He’s a wonderful little character with the sweetest personality. He is looking for a calm and quiet retirement home where he can spend his twilight years having nothing but comfort and luxury. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
3. Missy (Labrador Cross)
Missy is a very sweet and friendly girl who is always pleased to see both people and other dogs! She is a sociable lady, nobody is a stranger to Missy – she will happily say hello to everyone she meets. She absolutely loves getting out and about on her walks – she is happiest when out exploring! She will need an active home who are able to provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
4. Leroy
Leroy is a sensitive lad who is struggling with the shelter environment. Sadly, Leroy has lacked a lot of the socialisation he should’ve had in his early years and does really struggle to adapt to new surroundings and can take a while to warm up to new people. He currently spends most of his time hiding away, not wanting to interact with staff, although he has recently begun to accept treats from us, so we are beginning to see some small progress. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
