Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 17 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.

9. Voodoo
Voodoo is a chap with a huge personality! He was not a happy lad when he arrived at the shelter, known to be a scared, grumbly boy who lashes out when feeling scared or annoyed. Voodoo has been on foster with a foster family and is doing much better now that he’s in a home environment. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
10. Hunter (Whippet Cross)
Hunter is a beautiful boy and a sensitive soul with a lot of big feelings. He has a very sweet personality and loves a cuddle with his human friends. Hunter has struggled in the shelter environment and can get very stressed in his kennel. Once out and about on a walk he is a different dog entirely. He walks well and takes in his surroundings without any drama. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
11. Opal (Crossbreed)
Opal is a wonderful girl who staff say has been an absolute delight to get to know and spend time with during her stay at the shelter. Everyone is her best friend – she loves to say hello to people! She can sometimes be a little over-excitable and jump up for a fuss, so she would benefit from having a family who can work on her being a little more polite with her greetings. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
12. Moose
Moose is a sweet but shy little lady. She doesn’t cope well with change and can find noise and sudden movement quite worrying. She does spend a lot of time hiding away in the back of her pen, but is getting braver every day and does come out when our staff speak to her. Moose would be best suited to a calm and quiet adult-only home. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
