Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 17 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.

2. Tyke (Chihuahua)
Tyke is a super friendly and truly adorable little lad, though he can be a little timid in his kennel at times, once out and about he adores meeting people and getting some attention. Tyke hasn’t shown any real interest in toys, but does love his daily walks almost as much as he loves curling up on your knee for some love and a snooze. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
3. Doug (Pug Crossbreed)
Doug is the most delightful little character you could wish to meet! He lives life in the fast lane and is a real little busy body. Doug loves going out for walks and although is a slightly older boy, is still very energetic and will follow his nose all day long, he would love to go home with an active family where he can go on adventures. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
4. Karen
Karen is a tough little lady who was actually discovered on-site at the shelter with her kittens! The team carefully emptied one of our huge skips after Karen and her kittens were discovered hiding amongst the rubbish and thankfully they were able to get them all to safety. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
