Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 19 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.
Take a look and see if you can open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend!

5. Strudel (Lurcher)
Strudel is the most delightful girl who is enthusiastic to make friends with everyone she meets! This enthusiasm can sometimes mean you are greeted with a big hug as she jumps up to say hello. Strudel has been great when meeting other dogs. Though not particularly interested in playing with them, (she would much rather spend all her attention on her humans), she has been well mannered and pleasant in her interactions. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

6. Kermit (Pocket Bully)
Kermit is an absolute superstar. He is a brilliant boy with a personality as big as his smile. He adores his humans and will make friends easily with everyone he meets, happily rolling on his back for some tummy rubs. Kermit has become a firm favourite with the team at the shelter – he is just an absolute pleasure to be around. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

7. Doug (Pug Crossbreed)
Doug is the most delightful little character you could wish to meet! He lives life in the fast lane and is a real little busy body. Doug loves going out for walks and although is a slightly older boy, is still very energetic and will follow his nose all day long, he would love to go home with an active family where he can go on adventures | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

8. Ray
Ray is a wonderful boy who has been a pleasure to get to know and spend time with during his time at the shelter. He is a super friendly lad who loves people. Staff have no background information on Ray after he arrived into their care as an unneutered stray with no microchip, but they suspect he must’ve been in a home at some point in his life as he is such a sociable chap. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
