Johnson is accused of two counts of sexual activity with a child. He has already admitted one count of meeting a child following sexual grooming and sexual activity with a child, relating to kissing.The 28-year-old's first police interview, carried out on the day of his arrest, was read out to jurors today as part of Detective Constable Kimberly Walton's evidence.

Johnson told partner Stacey Flounders that teen he groomed 'said she was 16'Det Con Walton is the officer on the case, who arrested Johnson at his home.Johnson described the girl at the centre of the charges, who was 15 when the crimes are alleged to have taken place, as a "massive, massive fan" of Sunderland football club, and someone he considered a friend.The pair made contact on social media, and later arranged to meet so the girl could get a signed shirt, which the footballer had worn in a game.In interview, Johnson told officers that he often signs things for fans and that this girl was "always supporting me" and didn't give him "stick".He added: "You try to give them a little bit back. Do it for the ones who are always there."At the first meeting, the winger told DC Walton that they talked about football. In the second meeting, he admitted that they kissed.Johnson continued: "I'm guessing I probably thought it was alright at the time."It was just like a normal kiss, how you would kiss someone. It wasn't a peck, it was like a kiss. When you kiss someone with tongues it's quite passionate anyway isn't it."The footballer also admitted he had his hands on the girl's hip, top of her leg and around her back as they kissed.He told Det Con Walton and other officers that he knew the girl was 15 and that it was "wrong" that he kissed her.Johnson continued: "I had a girlfriend for one."There's loads of reasons. I have a family, I have a career."He added. "I was a bit upset with myself, I shouldn't be doing that."I don't want to lose my girlfriend for a mistake I have made, I don't want her to take my daughter away."Johnson denied he had touched the girl sexually, or that she had touched him and said he "couldn't believe" she was saying these things had happened because she seemed like a "nice person".When he was arrested, Det Con Walton told the court that Johnson said "she told me she was 16" to girlfriend Stacey Flounders.When asked why he lied to her, Johnson told the police officer that he "panicked".Johnson and the girl only met twice, but the 28-year-old said in interview he kept messaging her afterwards so he could "keep her as a friend"."She might say to my girlfriend, or say to people," he added.The court also heard that Johnson gave out a separate Snapchat username only to the girl, but he added that he would have given it to others if they had asked.He said in interview: "It was so my girlfriend wasn't suspicious. We have had a few arguments in the past about me texting girls and things."I have admitted I have texted people before so I was worried she wouldn't believe me again if I said I wasn't doing anything."
