Appeal for potential key witness to sexual assault to come forward

Police investigating a sexual assault in South Tyneside are appealing for potential key witnesses to get in contact.

The attack happened at around 1.20pm on Monday, November 20, when a man grabbed a woman by the waist while she was walking on the footpath next to the A19, near Kirkstone Avenue, in Jarrow.

The woman managed to break free and the man made off.

Officers believe the offender stopped to speak to a woman who was walking her dog shortly after the incident.

Detectives are keen for the woman to get in contact as she may be a key witnesses in helping police identify the offender. 

The woman was walking a small white dog on a lead. The dog was the size of a Jack Russell.
