Asda reduces petrol to pre-Brexit prices

There was good news for motorists today as Asda announced it is reducing fuel to pre-Brexit prices.

It is taking up to 2p a litre off its prices at the pump, with a national cap of 105.7p for unleaded and 106.7p on diesel.

The move comes just in time for the many holidaymakers who are setting off on trips.

The price cut, effective from today, applies to all the supermarket chain's 272 petrol stations.

The supermarket is the only retailer that has a national price cap on fuel at all its filling stations.

Andy Peake, Asda’s senior director for petrol, said: “It’s the start of the summer holidays and we know families will be getting out and about all across the country, which is why we’re dropping the price of fuel”.

"Drivers will pay no more than 106.7 pence per litre for diesel and 105.7p on unleaded at any Asda forecourt across the country – regardless of their holiday destination.”

“We always pass on any savings we can make to our customers, so it’s great to see costs have dropped despite early predictions that the cost of fuel would increase following the outcome of the EU Referendum.”
