Emergency services were called to Marsden Grotto in South Shields this morning (Monday, April 27) at 10.45am after police received a report of concern for a man.

Sadly, the body of a man was found in the area and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Northumbria Police has confirmed the man’s next of kin has been notified and a report has been made for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “At 10.45am today (Monday), police received a report of a concern for a man near Marsden Grotto, South Shields.

“Emergency services attended and found the body of a man who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“His next of kin have been notified and there is not believed to have been any third party involvement.

“A report has been made for the coroner.”
