Body pulled from River Tyne at Newcastle Quayside following search by emergency services

A man’s body has been found in the River Tyne at Newcastle Quayside following a search by emergency services.

Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency services were called to the Newcastle Quayside at around 9.45am on Wednesday, January 8.

A Northumbria Police spokespersons said: “Emergency services have attended and the body of a man has been recovered.

“Enquiries to establish the identity of the body and inform his next of kin will now take place.”
