Celebrating St Wilfrid's 40th anniversary

Below it, from 1990, is a shot of St Wilfrid’s under-17s Northern Cross Country Championship winners. They were, left to right, Emma Cooke, Helen Nuttal, Joanna Greggs, Gillian Tooley, Elizabeth Montgomery and Catherine Bebbington.

What can you tell me about the winning team?

Across the page (top picture), we have an image of a busy newsroom, when, back in May 1989, these youngsters produced their own French language newspaper, Escargot Nordique (Northern Snail). Why such a strange title?

Below left, these students were rustling up a tasty treat in 1987, when they produced a batch of waffles.

The young cooks are, left to right, Julie O’Neil, Joanne Gibbons and Mandy White. Apparently the girls sold the waffles to fellow pupils in order to raise funds for a worthy cause. Do you know how much they made and what the good cause was?

Also raising funds were the youngsters shown taking part in a sponsored lollypop lick in March 1990.
