As students are settling into a new school year at various educational establishments, we decided to find out where our North East born celebrities studied either before or during their career.
While the North East is home to excellent schools, universities and colleges , some of our North East favourites have decided to study elsewhere in the country, while a select few completed their education in the city.

5. Denise Welch
Tynemouth born Denise Welch studied early education locally at Bygate School in Whitley Bay before moving on to La Sagesse School in Newcastle. She moved once again to Blackfyne Grammar School in Consett. Once she discovered her talent for acting, Denise moved to London to study at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. | Getty Images
Newcastle-born Vick Hope has quite the impressive education history. In her younger years, she was a pupil at Dame Allan's Schools in Fenham, but when it came to university she studied at Emmanuel College in Cambridge. Sunderland born retired footballer Jill Scott attended Monkwearmouth Comprehensive School. In order to hone her talents in football, she then studied at Gateshead College, where she received a BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science.
