Runners and walkers joined in one of the country’s biggest fundraising events along The Leas in South Shields this morning.

Supporters completed distances of one, three or six miles, with the cash they raised added to the record-breaking £55million already collected.

The event was organised by South Tyneside Council’s sports development team in support of the national Sports Relief Miles.
