Collision on A1(M) closes off access to sliproad

A sliproad leading onto the A1(M) at Washington was closed off after a crash.

Highways England has said the northbound entry sliproad at Junction 64 was shut off to traffic in the wake of a collision.

Its traffic officers were sent to the scene and made arrangements for a recovery team to arrive.

At 9.45pm it said the area had been cleared and the planned works to repair a barrier are now under way, but that the slip road is now shut for planned work to be carried out.

North East Traffic Live has said works are scheduled to run until 5.30am.
