Court round-up: Vodka thefts from B&M and Asda among petty crimes dealt with

Jordan Roche, 18, of Glenmoor, Hebburn, was given a six-month community order after admitting stealing a bottle of vodka worth £20 from Asda, in South Tyneside, on Tuesday, January 12 and a bottle of vodka to the value of £13.99 from B&M Bargains, Jarrow, on Tuesday, January 23.

He was also ordered to pay £20 compensation, prosecution costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.

Jonathon Sharp, 32, of Richmond Road, South Shields, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 compensation after admitting the joint theft of a HTC mobile phone worth £100 from the Mobile Phone Repair Centre, Stanhope Road, South Shields, on Wednesday, December 2.

Michael Cowie, 35, of Beach Road, South Shields, was fined £80 after admitting stealing wine and food to the value of £20.55 from Asda, in Coronation Street, South Shields, on Saturday, February 6.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Damien Kelly, 21, of Collingwood Street, Hebburn, was fined £80 after admitting stealing a one-litre bottle of vodka worth £15.99 from B&M Bargains, Jarrow, on Tuesday, January 19.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £15.99, prosecution costs of £80 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Ian Greener, 29, of Regent Court, South Shields, was ordered to pay compensation of £188 after admitting damaging the wing mirror of a Renault Clio car in South Tyneside on Friday, December 11.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85.

Christopher Hilton, 24, of Gorse Avenue, South Shields, was given a 10-week electronically monitored curfew after admitting making threats to destroy property in South Tyneside on Saturday, October 3.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.

Brandon Cairns, 18, of no fixed abode, was fined £100 after admitting breaching a restraining order on Sunday, February 21.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £50 and a £20 victim surcharge.
