Armed police called after man threatens victims in South Shields home

Armed police were called to a disturbance in a South Shields street after an “unknown male” threatened his victims in their own home.

Northumbria Police was called to reports of a disturbance in Chichester Road shortly before 6pm on Saturday, August 15, after an unknown man gained entry to a property and threatened the occupants.

An investigation has been launched and police say that while nobody was injured in the incident, the occupants were left shaken.

Witness reported seeing armed police in the street.

A force spokesman said: “Officers attended where it was reported that an unknown male had gained entry to a property on the street and displayed threatening behaviour to the occupants.

"It is understood that he has then left the scene by car.

“Nobody was injured – however the occupants were left shaken from the incident.”
