Assaulting emergency workers and damaging gold necklaces - a round up of South Tyneside court cases

Karl Potts, 24, of Whitehill Street, South Shields, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting possessing cocaine on July 17.

Christopher Wilson, 51, of St Paul’s Close, Spennymoor, was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £160 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drinking driving and possessing cannabis in Hebburn on July 20.

Amanda Tracey Smith, 49, of Vine Street, South Shields, was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge after admitting breaching a restraining order by sending texts on August 17.

Dean Rigg, 38, of Rowan Court, South Shields, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two counts of assaulting emergency workers in the town on February 4 last year.

Peter Maxwell, 32, of Naworth Terrace, South Shields, received six penalty points on his driving licence, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without insurance on May 21 last year.

Maria McGow, 35, of Lanark Drive, Jarrow, received a six-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting committing assault and causing criminal damage to a gold necklace on July 18.
