Assaulting police, nurses and drink driving: The latest South Shields cases heard by magistrates

The following cases from the South Shields area were dealt with at the town’s South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court recently:

William Robinson, 22, of Canterbury Street, South Shields, was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on August 29.

David Kenneth Adams, 43, of Marine Approach, South Shields, was fined £40 and ordered to pay £60 costs after admitting breaching a community order by failing to attend scheduled appointments on May 21 and May 28.

Desta Othinel Ross, 24, of Mill Street, Sunderland, was banned from driving for six months, fined £150 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without any insurance in South Shields on March 18.

Matthew Jens Wood, 19, of Beacon Glade, South Shields, was fined £660 and ordered to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting failing to provide information leading to the identification of a driver alleged to have committed an offence on February 25.

Kyle Stephen Rogers, 33, of Caer Urfa Close, South Shields, was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order and to pay £150 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two charges of assaulting a police officer and two counts of causing criminal damage on May 1.

Michael Doyle, 34, of St Rollox Street, Hebburn, was banned from driving for 36 months, fined £583 and ordered to pay a £58 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink driving on March 12.

Neil McKenzie, 52, of Murton Street, Sunderland, was placed on a six-month 7pm-7am curfew as part of a community order and was ordered to pay £300 compensation, a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two assaults and assaulting a police officer at South Tyneside District Hospital on June 28 last year.
