PC Christopher Hall, of Northumbria Police, said: “Matthew Ord clearly received a shock when he saw officers executing a warrant at his home and he was understandably eager to find out why.
“But in doing so, he seemingly forgot that he was banned from driving and happened to be in possession of a car that was confirmed to have been taken without consent from a family member earlier that day.
“After seeing Ord park up and get out of the driver’s seat, officers carried out checks which confirmed he was the subject of a two-year driving ban which was handed to him less than six months ago.

#“He must now face the serious consequences of his actions when he is sentenced later this year.”
Ord, of Brownlow Road, South Shields, was subject to a driving ban at the time of his arrest after being convicted of dangerous driving for unrelated matters on February 10 this year
He was handed a six-month suspended sentence and a two-year driving ban for that offence but faces jail after being convicted of these latest offences.
