Gang attacks man in his own home during terrifying burglary

Four men are reported to have attacked a victim in his own home during a terrifying burglary in Jarrow.

Detectives are investigating the assault which took place at a home on Glasgow Road, in the Scotch Estate area, shortly before 6.15pm on Friday, August 21.

Four suspects are believed to have entered the home and assaulted the man before stealing items.

No details have been released regarding any injuries but the victim was taken to hospital.

The incident happened in Glasgow Road.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 6.15pm on August 21 we received a report of an assault on a male at an address on Glasgow Road, Jarrow.

"The victim reports four men entered his home and assaulted him before stealing a number of items.

"Enquiries are on-going and anyone who may have information or witnessed anything suspicious in the Glasgow Road area on Friday evening is asked to contact police online or through 101, quoting reference log 967 210820."
