Large police presence in South Shields street just days after bomb squad search at address

Police cars and vans were seen in Osborne Avenue, South Shields, on Wednesday, April 29 – less than a week after the bomb squad was called to the same street as part of ongoing inquiries.
Last week – on Friday, April 24 – the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the South Shields street to assist police officers with searching a property there.

Hide AdA Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed to the Gazette then that there was “no risk” to the wider public and that the search in Osborne Avenue formed part of an ongoing police operation.
She said: “There is no wider risk to the public and inquiries are ongoing.”
The force has been contacted for comment.
